Jo Reitze - ArtistJo (Mrs de Carteret) is a Fellow of The Victorian Artist’s Society and is the Past President and Committee Member of Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors. She coordinated Art at Canterbury Girls’ Secondary College for twenty years. Jo is now giving greater attention to her own painting.

Recently Jo has received several awards and shortlisting in major shows.

In 2024 She was awarded MSWPS Jo Bennett Award for Works on Paper. See image of award.

In 2023 she received First Prize for Oils at Geelong Art Show and The Borough of Queenscliff Art Award for the Best Artwork of the Region.

In 2022 Jo was awarded the A.M.E. Bale Art Prize for Works on Paper, a major nationally selected award.

In 2021, Jo was selected as one of twenty-eight finalists from over six hundred applicants in the prestigious Geelong Contemporary Art Prize 2021.

In 2005 she commenced Jo Reitze paints your garden. Since then she has completed numerous garden paintings on commission.

In 2013 Jo Reitze was selected as the Whitehorse Artspace’s Invited artist. Her exhibition, The Artist’s Gardens, in Whitehorse Artspace depicted aspects of her Surrey Hills garden over 25 years. View a walkthrough of this exhibition

Recently Jo has been in demand as a judge, adjudicating The Marysville Art Show 2016, The Strathdon Uniting Age Well, Box Hill Artists’ Society, Noble Park Community Art Shows in 2017, Whitehorse Arts Association in 2019, Pakenham Art Show 2022 and Art Society of Phillip Island Art Show, Rotary Club of Ocean Grove Art Show and Hughesdale Art Group Art Show 2023.

In 2018 Jo was invited to teach at both The Victorian Artist Society and Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre. Until Term 4 2022, Jo was a Tutor in Gouache and Acrylic at VAS Studios. Jo has successfully run gouache workshops for various groups including The Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Emerald Art Society, Kinross Arts Centre and Hawthorn Park Development. Jo regularly speaks at Gardening, Church, U3A, Rotary and Probus groups. Jo has a distinguished list of awards and exhibitions to her credit.
